I love making unique personalised pictures for special occasions and designed this tree as a truly original gift for any new baby or child’s room. I start with a sketch of the tree so each one is slightly different. The outline is then stitched freehand using machine embroidery. All of the pink blossom is added by hand, one-by-one. I use white sequins, pink beads, pearl beads and tiny French knots, very time consuming to sew but a labour of love. The banner is made from Liberty of London fabric with the name spelt out by hand in freemotion stitching. There is a little heart carved on the tree trunk to celebrate your love for the special young child who will receive it. Can you spot the two little birds sitting on the branches? This is my first quilting project – a sewing machine cover. I did all piecing and quilting in the hoop with my embroidery machine. My Janome came with a plain white plastic cover which I used for years but I have always wanted to make some soft fabric cover which looks beautiful. And as I started to do some simple quilting I have decided that quilted sewing machine cover is a good beginner quilting project.
