The Margaret Button Cowl is a beautiful cool weather cowl that is fun to crochet, fully adjustable, and has an interesting yet easy stitch sequence resembling floating squares. The Margaret Button Cowl By Jennifer Dickerson Materials: 1.5 skeins Bernat Softee Chunky yarn L (8.0 mm) crochet hook 1 Large Button Tapestry needle Scissors Sizing: 10 inches wide 30 inches long when unbuttoned Instructions: Ch 26 Row 1: In the second ch from the hook, work a sc. *Ch 3, skip 3 ch, sc in next ch, rpt from * to end of row. Row 2: Ch 3 and turn. *Work 3 dc in the ch 3 sp from the previous row. Rpt from * in each ch 3 sp across. 1 dc in the turning chain. Row 3: Ch 1 and turn. In the first space, work a sc. *Ch 3 and work a sc in between each block/group of 3 dc (in between the groups of 3 dc from previous row), then work 1 sc in the turning chain. Repeat rows 2 and 3 until cowl is 30 inches long or desired length. Finishing & Assembly: Weave in all ends with the tapestry needle. Sew button in bottom left corner of the cowl. I recommend trying the cowl on before sewing to ensure best placement. I sewed the button about three rows up from the bottom and about two rows over.
